Plagueclaw catapults are probably the better artillery since they do almost as much damage and fire in a high arc, making them more strategically flexible. The jezzails and ratling gunners are fucking amazing, put 1-3 of each in your armies. Don't hesitate on account of friendly fire if you can do massive damage to your enemies Your starting army should have artillery, monsters, or something else that will do nicely until you can tech up and get the good shit. Eventually, you'll understand the benefits and tradeoffs to all the under-empire buildings and what combinations of buildings to put whereĪs for combat, clanrats and skavenslaves are chaff, you'll need to rely on numbers and outflanking or your other units to do real damage. Once your under-empire spreads several times, you can remove one or two of the tunnel buildings to make room for other stuff. After that, you usually should build the building that generates food, one of the buildings that reduce discoverability, and anything else that suits your taste. The first thing you always want to build is the building that gives a chance to spread under-empire to adjacent regions. Under-empires are also the best way to reliably generate food - the other primary way is killing enemy armies, so you obviously want a more stable source Use the warlock engineer hero to plant under empires in rich or strategically valuable regions.
